Message from Susan
People speak because they believe they have something of value to share with others; something that will make others think, feel or behave differently.
A speaker can bring insight, humor, tools, ideas, principles and encouragement to an audience; but to have the greatest impact, a speaker must be passionate about his or her subject matter.
My passion is to help people build and maintain meaningful relationships.
At the end of one's life, at the point of slipping away, I have never known anyone to say, "Quick, bring me my diplomas, trophies and achievements. I want to hold them close." What a person wants at this moment is to be surrounded by those who know, love and care about him/her.
In our "run harder", "run faster" world, where we plan out our days in fifteen minutes blocks, relationships with those people that are truly important in our lives are often neglected, pushed aside to be dealt with later.
Lest I lead you astray, I must tell you that I am a firm believer in achievement, in using your gifts, talents and abilities in the service of others. It is when life gets out of balance and our drive to achieve takes over that we get into trouble. This is when those who deserve our best, end up with the "leftovers."
To be heroes to strangers and strangers to those we love will ultimately lead to painful regret.
If these thoughts prick your conscience, take heart. It is never too late to start over.
All the best,
